19. Budapest International Wine and Champagne Festival 8- 12. September 2010
15 countries 220 wine-producers and 3300 varieties of wine await guests at the wine exhibition and market in Buda Castle between the 8th and 12th of September. The wine festival – which holds first rank importance in Central Europe and is Hungarian wine's most prominent marketing opportunity – has seen its number of visitors in recent years total some 70 thousand people. The setting, Buda Castle, is a UNESCO World Heritage site, which complements and adds magic to Hungarian Wine's celebrations.

In Buda Castle, between the 8th and 12th of September the cream of Hungarian wine-makers' wine will be on offer. Amongst the many national Hungarian wines represented are many regional varieties and vitners, both well-known and less well-known. Additionally the wine festival provides guests a gastronomic event offering grilled food, farm-style soups cooked over open fires, display kitchens, savoury scones, traditional country-style 'töki pompos' dough bread with ewe, goat and dairy cheeses. The Wine University will be open between the 6th-7th of September at the Headquarters of the Hungarian Cultural Foundation. Exciting topics from renowned presenters!(Budai Vár. Szentháromság tér 6.).
The wine harvest's colourful vintage procession is planned for September the 11th. During the wine exhibitions and market, from September the 8th to the 12th gastronomic days will also be held within Buda Castle.
The charity wine auction will be held on September the 17th. An evening dinner is included in the charity auction where, between courses, the guests can sample wines from the producers and place their bids or register their interest.
The Wine Festival's closing event is a gala concert on September the 16th in the Palace of Fine which pays tribute to the legendary greats of Hungarian national romanticism. Let’s listen to their wonderful music and remember: Erkel, Dohnányi, Liszt and Kodály.
